A glimmer of Hope

Just got a call from my doctor. Dh's test results came back good. His swimmers are strong and he has a normal amount of them. However, about 3% of them have an odd shape she said. She said they don't really get too much alarmed until the number is at 4%. So, we talked about options and we are going to do our first round of clomid. She said it increases our percentage of twins from 3% to 15% and I had to say "Yeah!" I have wanted twins my entire life. She said we will try clomid for 3 months and if we still haven't gotten pregnant, we would talk about insemination. This is the first time in a very long time I have felt a glimmer of hope. I am swimming in worry though. We just bought our first home and Matt is out of a job, but I have to trust in a greater, more divine plan. The last few weeks when we have been praying, I thank Heavenly Father for the blessings we have and I say something to the effect that I recognize that through Him, all things are possible. I also know that it is His timing, not mine.

Friends, if you have been on clomid is there anything I should expect out of the ordinary? Any strange side effects? Anything I should be worried about?

The above is a link to a message thread called the Clomid Club on diaperswappers.com. The ladies there talk about their experiences with clomid and share a ton of information. Just thought it might be something you want to look at. We love you tons and keep you and Matt in our prayers! You might have to copy and paste it into your browser, I'm not sure how it works here on blogger.

  2. Some people just have magnified PMS symptoms with it. That's what happened to me. I was very emotional and moody. I didn't like being on Clomid but it's what worked for us. Good luck!!

  3. We did 4 rounds of clomid in order to have our IUI's and it wasn't my favorite; but I did it because I wanted the end result so bad. I know my migraines were a lot worse and my mood swings were a lot more pronounced. Good luck to you.. I'm so happy with your glimmer of hope. Talk to Kjerstin, they had success with Clomid and didn't mind it too bad.

  4. I had no side effects with the clomid, but I only took one round of it! Glad to hear that things are coming along and that you are trying other options!

  5. I'm on my third round of clomid. The first 2 months it made me feel better than I have in a long time. I had some hot flashes and minor headaches. It also increased my mood swings. Now it's made me have greater headaches and a little nausea. Hopefully I'll be off it soon!

  7. Hi!! I'm so happy you have found a glimmer of hope!!! Clomid is different for everyone. I have been told that 80% of women get pregnant within the first three months. Boo-Yah!! The first round I took it I got pregnant during the second round. I miscarried, but that is because of another personal health issue on my part! I am now doing clomid again so we'll see how it goes! Anyhow, just wanted to tell you again that I LOVE your blog! I can't wait to see what great bleesings will come your way! :0)

  8. Hi there. I feel like i'm totally stalking you. I am in your BIL's ward in KS - anyways, I wanted to comment about Clomid. I was on it for 2 months and, holy cow! I had THE most insane hot flashes. I never knew what a hot flash was before I experienced one. And it made me really emotional. I would cry about any little thing. Unfortunately, I moved right before we tried a third time. Still working on getting pregnant.

Thought I'd note that Clomid is really expensive. My insurance won't cover any of it, so I opted for generic. Even generic was $20. My dr. suggested getting the generic at Albertson's because apparently they have different formulations and theirs seemed to work for her (she used Clomid for help conceiving, too). The second round I got a generic from Costco.

    Good luck!
